The Citizens Civic League, formed in 1920, was created to promote development in Meta. Early on, they spearheaded projects such as donating playground equipment to the local school and contributing to the purchase of Meta Fire and Rescue's first fire truck. Their current building, built in the early 1970's and located on Olive Street, hosts a number of activities each year for local citizens. Such activities include wedding receptions, dances, birthday parties and company picnics. Each year, the League hosts its own fundraiser picnic. Local residents and League members cook and serve the community. Crafts and homemade baked goods are also available for sale. The League currently has many active community members.
